Description

My work emerges from the bisque (1st) firing looking clean and white like a blank canvas awaiting the paint. Who knows what the 2nd firing, the saggar firing, will do, how the enclosed heat in the combustible atmosphere inside the saggar will color on the piece? Kind of like life. I happened to have been reading John 4, the story of the Samaritan Woman at the Well, the morning before this saggar firing. When I opened the kiln and found this piece I was reminded that God can use even what appears to be a broken pot to bring refreshment and life. But it’s not broken. It was built this way, for this very reason.
