“The Wave” is a rock formation in the Paria Canyon-Vermillion Cliffs Wilderness, Arizona, near the Utah border. “The Wave” in my piece was created by draping a lock of horse tail hair along the rim of the form. The blue is copper mixed in the slip coating, stippled on with a sea sponge.  I never know quite what the result will be when I saggar fire my work, but it’s nearly always a surprise – and beautiful.
